Here is my story
I practiced social work for over 8 years with a passion for making life better for those who really seemed to need help. I found that the task was really challenging especially with the social system and its limitations, working daily around layers of deep mental and physical illness. My time as a social worker ended as I found myself spiraling deeply into an experience of life-threatening depression.
I found that I was experiencing other symptoms including severe anxiety, allergy induced asthma, and symptoms of fibromyalgia that I felt unable to work for over a year. I contemplated suicide every day for over 2 years.
I had come to a place of total desperation, willing to try anything that could possibly help. Over the years I worked with psychotherapists, psychiatrists, a nutritionist, acupuncturists, hypnotherapists, and other holistic healers. I took pharmaceuticals, herbs, supplements, and changed my diet.
Initially I tried the western approach of taking pharmaceutical medications but when I found that they weren’t working for me, I realized that what I really needed was to heal rather than cover up my experience. I began my own healing path back to health, wellbeing and freedom.
Much of my healing came from the support of professionals which may have saved my life. One of the most impactful turning points for me on my path was the day that I really looked at the reoccurring thoughts and images of suicide that kept running through my mind. I realized that there was comfort in them - a way out; but I also knew that these thoughts were keeping me stuck. I finally decided that I would never allow myself to act on the ideas and images and that I would stop letting myself hold on to a back door. When I made this decision, everything changed.
I also realized that it was necessary for me to really address my inner pain to heal my outer symptoms. Out of the many holistic approaches that I experienced, the two that have really made the most sense for me, are hypnotherapy and energy healing. I have pursued their education and practice for the benefit of others as well as for myself. This is not to say that the others are not beneficial. They are. In my experience, these two modalities, address the deepest root of our difficulties. Everything else builds from there.
What I also found was that this life breakdown became a point of awakening for me. I pursued a spiritual path that helped me to make sense of what was happening and allowed me to release what was not working for me so that I could align and harmonize with the truth of my self.
I remember telling a dear friend of mine during some of the most difficult parts of this unfolding, “I feel like I’m dying”. I remember us both feeling sad, scared and lost. I now look back at that and understand that I was going through an important breaking down of what I had become in order to be “renewed” into what I am today.
It’s like that saying, “When a caterpillar sees a butterfly, does it know?” I’m not sure that it does but I do believe that the butterfly always remembers that it was once a caterpillar. Sometimes I have to remember to have compassion for my caterpillar. Most of the time, I am very grateful to God that I was able to go through over two years of cocooning, breaking down and rebuilding to become what I am now. My tears now are of gratitude.
Since having moved through this difficult period and having come back into service with greater wisdom, power and freedom, I have come to find out that I am a 3rd generation healer. It’s an exciting confirmation to find that the art of healing runs in my family. I have also traveled to over 30 countries on 6 continents, lived and worked in four countries, and traveled with my best friends as well as on my own.
I now live in the beautiful Topanga Canyon with my beloved life partner and give great thanks for my life. What my experience has taught me is that illness is a gift and a teacher and that what we call symptoms are simply a perfect feedback mechanism seeking to communicate with us about where we are holding ourselves separate from our essential nature which is always in a state of wellbeing. I’ve also learned that we all have an extraordinary ability to heal ourselves - of anything!
What is transformational hypnotherapy?
What is transformational hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy has long been understood to be an effective means of achieving habit change, reducing stress, anxiety and pain, quitting smoking, and losing weight. Jenna Grayson, CHt practices a specialized type of hypnotherapy: Transformational Hypnotherapy. Transformational Hypnotherapy is a gentle yet powerful tool that is rooted in the understanding that what you are seeking is already within you. (Read more…)
We all have experiences in our lives, perhaps while growing up, that taught us to shut down our own inner nature, who we truly are. It is natural for you to express in your life that which you most long for. This is the process of returning to wellbeing on all levels. Hypnotherapy for transformation is a process of not only reprogramming the mind for what you want, but it is also a de-programming of the mind of that which no longer serves you. This allows for your own true essence or potential to be expressed as your life.
Even specific physical conditions can be understood as communication from the body telling you when you are out of alignment with your own inner nature or natural state of well being. Jenna Grayson, CHt specializes in the treatment of autoimmune disorders such as fibromyalgia, Lupus, cancer, HIV / AIDS, rheumatoid arthritis, and allergies which are effectively improved by hypnosis. Using hypnotherapy for physical conditions like these creates the opportunity of seeing the condition as a teacher, gently moving you back to a state of harmonizing wellbeing. According to Louise Hay best-selling author of 27 books including,
Louise Hay, author of You Can Heal Your Life, “Somewhere very deep within our bodies, there’s some kind of destructive message that needs to be revealed and transformed. To break free of this pattern, it’s helpful to establish a safe environment to reconnect with our feeling processes and begin to safely release stored anger, sadness, and other suppressed emotions. It’s highly recommended and important to contact a qualified professional as you go through this process. With mindfulness, emotional release techniques, and/or belief system revision; significant healing can occur.”
Hypnotherapy for transformation is based on a heart-centered approach that integrates not only the conditioning of the conscious and subconscious mind, but also considers the desires and clarity of the heart or “inner being” and messages of the body. When you are in full inner alignment with your intentions for yourself, you move swiftly and gracefully in the direction of your healing.
Why hypnotherapy?
After years of suffering with clinical depression, anxiety, symptoms of fibromyalgia, allergy induced asthma, and trying multiple methods of seeking relief, Jenna Grayson sought out her own healing. Hypnotherapy helped Jenna to identify non-supportive beliefs and thought patterns that were keeping her stuck and in a disharmonious state. Hypnotherapy also helped her to optimize her own body’s natural healing potential. Now Jenna practices and promotes hypnotherapy as a powerful healing tool. (Read more…)
Often times when we are feeling stuck in a life situation or habit, an ongoing feeling or disharmonious bodily condition, the subconscious is keeping us stuck. The subconscious is alerting the conscious mind that it needs to be addressed for healing to take place. The subconscious mind holds our early childhood programming as well as non-supportive beliefs about ourselves which can cause mental as well as physical conditions that are out of alignment with our natural state of wellbeing.
Hypnotherapy accesses the subconscious mind through an experience similar to guided imagery or meditation. The subconscious is located all throughout the body. This is why people who have received organ transplants can sometimes have memories of their donor’s life. In connecting with the subconscious, we can align conscious intentions and subconscious beliefs, clear subconscious blocks or limiting beliefs, communicate with your body’s symptoms (or language), and maximize body-mind healing.
Hypnotherapy is an experience of relaxed, focused attention. In this in-between state (between sleep and wakefulness) the subconscious mind is accessed. The subconscious mind stores all your experiences as well as wisdom beyond ordinary programming. This aspect of your awareness can also be referred to as your higher intelligence, inner being, greater awareness, soul, or spirit.

How does hypnotherapy work?
Hypnosis is created through a deep state of relaxation, an in-between sleep and waking state, it is an experience of deeply relaxed focused attention. During a session of hypnotherapy, Jenna gently guides you into a state where the critical mind is temporarily suspended so that the subconscious mind is accessed and suggestible for the purpose of making shifts that you desire at a subconscious level. (Read more…) Every night before you fall asleep and every morning as you awaken, you pass through a state of consciousness that can be called an alpha or theta brain wave state, a meditative state, or the state of hypnosis. This is a natural state experienced daily by all people.
You use your subconscious mind to dream while you sleep. This area of the mind is at all times readily available to children under the age of 8 or 9. As young open-minded, impressionable kids we were influenced by well-intentioned parents, teachers, media, religious leaders, and peers. It is that environment that has largely programmed our minds to tell us who we are, how the world works, and who we are in the world. Since childhood we have created a mental filter called the critical mind to decipher what will be taken in as “true” and therefore “acceptable” new information. Hypnotherapy allows for the mind to take in new information that might otherwise be blocked by the critical mind.
What is the experience like? What should I expect?
A session begins with discussing and clarifying intentions you have for yourself along with compassionate counseling. You will then be gently guided into a deeply relaxed state, focusing the entirety of the mind on your desired outcome. Jenna can also guide you in learning self-hypnosis techniques to increase your progress on your own. Jenna also utilizes EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique, and is glad to teach you to use this powerful tool for your use on your own as well.
How do I know if I can be hypnotized?
Anyone can be hypnotized. Yes, even you! Hypnosis is a relaxed brain wave state that everyone passes through every night before falling asleep and while waking up every morning. If you have trouble relaxing or focusing then hypnotherapy will help. Hypnosis is a state that we actually pass through several times a day. (Read more…)
Consider whether you’ve ever had any of these experiences: missing a common exit on the freeway, driving yourself home and realizing that you didn’t remember the drive, or getting so involved in a movie or television program that you lost awareness of your environment. If you have, than you know what it is to be hypnotized.
Jenna is used to working with people who are sometimes concerned that they cannot be hypnotized. There are some people who are more resistant to this relaxed state and Jenna takes pride in the knowing that every client she has ever seen always leaves her office having had the experience of being hypnotized.
How do I choose a hypnotherapist?
It’s important to feel comfortable with your hypnotherapist. You’ll want to be sure that you feel that you can trust her/him so that you can be yourself and be open and honest. It’s important to know that your hypnotherapist is compassionate to your experience, is sincere and has your highest intentions in mind and at heart. (Read more…)
It is a good idea to work with a hypnotherapist who has been trained through a nationally accredited school for hypnotherapy. It is also a good idea to have an initial consultation with no obligation either in-person or over the phone to determine this for yourself.
