Cedar Martyn Founder/Massage Therapist/Energy Healer

Cedar incorporates a multi-dimensional approach toward massage treatments. Cedar will team with your angels and spirit guides, follow the body intelligence and infuse Divine golden healing light into her crystalline hands to lift denseness held in the body.
We will work together to define your massage experience. Your session may incorporate a broad array of styles, to optimize the benefits of your session.
Because Cedar works intuitively, a massage may be slow and very relaxing or at times it may be a little faster and therefore more invigorating and enlivening to the body.
Sometimes the recipient may experience an emotional release as the massage can release and shift negative emotions, negative beliefs and other "stuff" that has been stored in the cells of the body, with the healing effects of the massage continuing long after the treatment is over.
Treatments available with Cedar are all listed on web site.

Advanced Bodywork
James Bandy
Advanced Bodyworker
specializes in Structural Integration and Myofascial Release. Blending
these forms of bodywork he seeks to release the restrictions,
adhesions, and scar tissue that develop in the structural soft tissue
of the body. Because the body is the primary source of information for
the mind and spirit, he understands that these restrictions distort our
ability to listen to the wisdom of our own body as it seeks to heal
itself. These restrictions are the source of daily pain and
limitation, not only physically, but also emotionally and
psychologically. James studied and taught Structural Integration for
three years alongside well renowned Garnet Dupis, one of California's
pre-eminent bodywork teachers. For more info. call

Swedish: A full-body massage designed to stimulate circulation and provide an overall relaxing and stress relieving experience. This is the most commonly taught and well-known type of massage. When most people think of massage, they think of “Swedish massage”. Swedish massage is a classic western massage technique which combines kneading and long smooth strokes to improve circulation and that relax and loosen muscles. The techniques applied in Swedish massage are gentle and rhythmic. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. Therapists use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive and tapping movements, usually accompanied by the application of oil, to reduce friction on the skin. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissue of lactic acid, uric acid and other metabolic wastes, and it speeds the venous return of un-oxygenated blood and toxins from the extremities. Even though the pressure is relatively light, this treatment still has therapeutic benefits including: an increased blood flow, increased muscle tone, improved oxygenation to the muscles, and, of course, relaxation.
Aromatherapy - Aromatherapy means "treatment using scents". Aromatherapists use therapeutic oil extracts from plants, flowers, trees, fruits, bark, grasses and seeds. There are approximately 150 essential oils, each having its own distinct therapeutic, psychological, and physiological properties. When inhaled, they work on the brain and nervous system through stimulation of the olfactory nerves. As we breath the scents, our brain releases chemicals that communicate with our nervous system to produce a calculated result such as relaxation, digestion, invigoration, or pain relief. Many of these oils have antiseptic properties; some are antiviral, anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, antidepressant and expectorant.
Deep Tissue: Releases chronic patterns of tension in the body through the application of slow and deep pressure strokes.
Esalen Massage- hands begin quietly, with presence, attending to breath, allowing the receiver to drop inward. The long, slow, t'ai chi-like strokes awaken awareness, and as the tissues open to the warm of touch, the contact deepens, nudging bound-up muscles, drawing forth expanded movement. A relaxing sigh resounds through the body, and the practitioner responds with integration strokes into related areas. The massage continues, seamlessly, wrapping the torso arms, legs, hands, feet, neck, and spirit into a united whole.
Reflexology: Based on a 5,000 year old healing system from China, these techniques address reflex points on the feet and hands which have energetic correlation to various parts of the body.
Trigger Point: These techniques target the painful knots that can form in muscle tissue. A therapist will apply moderate pressure on these points and hold for 30 seconds. After releasing, the pain associated with these knots/points is greatly reduced.
Cranial Sacral: Gentle, non-invasive holds on the head, spinal column and sacrum (tailbone) that stretch and decompress these areas. Craniosacral therapy has proven effective for the relief of migraine headaches, chronic neck and back pain, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, central nervous system disorders, temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ), Scoliosis, and fibromyalgia, among other ailments.
Shiatsu - Shiatsu is a traditional form of Japanese pressure point massage. Shiatsu is a Japanese word meaning “finger pressure”. A Shiatsu massage may incorporate not only the use of finger pressure, but also pressure by the therapists thumbs, palms, knees, forearms, elbows and even feet. Pressure is applied to areas of energy lines (known as “meridians”) to promote good health by stimulating the bodies energy flow.
Thai Massage No oils or creams are generally used in Thai massage. The client typically remains fully clothed and the massage usually takes place on a floor or mat rather than on a massage table. Thai massage may be best thought of as a form of assisted yoga. The therapist uses his or her hands, feet, elbows, knees and legs to stretch and manipulate the client’s body
Hawaiian Lomi Lomi This flowing with total energy, using the long continuous, flowing strokes, combined with the very loving touch, relaxes the entire being, assisting in a letting go of old beliefs, patterns and behaviours that cause limitations and which are stored in the cells of our body. People generally think of memory, beliefs, our "programming", as being stored in our head, in our brain. This is not the case, this memory and other programming is in fact stored in all the cells of our body. The Hawaiians look at things in terms of energy flow, following the idea that an idea or belief can block energy flow as much as muscle tension can. Lomi Lomi helps release the blockages, whilst at the same time giving the energy new direction. Thus Lomi Lomi is not just a physical experience; it also facilitates healing on the mental, emotional and spiritual levels as well. The Hawaiians view all aspects of the body as one and believe that the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual are all part of the "whole" self - when healing is effected on one level, all levels are affected. When harmony is lacking the effect is pain physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. Illness is a state of tension, which leads to resistance which blocks energy movement. Lomi Lomi helps release this and therefore facilitates the road to healing. On the physical level, through Lomi Lomi stress and tension are relieved, blood and lymph flow assisted and the elimination of wastes and toxins stimulated.
Benefits of Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is relaxing, and it certainly feels good, but there are many benefits to massage of which you may not be aware. Massage increases blood supply, oxygen, and nutrition to muscles, tissue, joints, and the vital organs, and improves circulation throughout the body. This helps muscles to recover more quickly from exertion and fatigue (especially useful after a strenuous workout), and helps to relieve the pain and discomfort associated with muscle tension, fractures, sprains, sciatica, and stiff joints.
Massage therapy aids in the relief of muscle spasms and cramping and helps in the prevention of muscular atrophy. Massage therapy also helps break up scar tissue and is especially useful in the breakup of post surgical adhesions and edema. It promotes a greater range of motion in joints and keeps ligaments and tendons supple. It lowers blood pressure and heart rate and reduces stress, anxiety, and even depression. As massage helps reduce not only physical, but mental stress, it is often recommended as part of a regular program for stress management.
Migraine sufferers, elderly persons, and pregnant mothers, may find massage particularly beneficial. Headache pain is often caused by myofascial trigger points in the muscles of the neck. A massage therapist can press his or her fingers deeply into the knotted muscles on the neck of a client suffering from a headache in order to release the trigger points that are causing the pain and tension. As the senior population rises and people continue to live longer, massage offers a way for elderly persons to deal with some of the issues associated with old age, such as arthritis, tendonitis, and bursitis. Massage provides a natural means of joint lubrication through improved circulation and mobility and it causes the body to release endorphins that act as natural pain killers. Massage helps relieve many of the normal discomforts that a mother experiences during pregnancy, suck as back, neck, and leg pain, as well as the pain and discomfort brought about by swollen feet and ankles.
As the elderly suffer disproportionately from immobility issues, massage therapy may be the only source of exercise the receive.
