Structural Integration PDF Print E-mail

A process of re-educating the body through movement and touch. Releases patterns of stress and improper body postures. Structural Bodywork works by lengthening and opening the patterns in the connective tissue, so that it may become soft, rehydrated and more pliable, thus allowing movement and flexibility. Simular to rolfing, this work is very slow and requires passive and active movements and side lying postures.  A Series of 10/ 90 minute structured sessions is recommended, however individual sessions may be scheduled as well. Structural Integration also re-educates the individual to become aware of body movement patterns creating tension and mis-alignment in the body. The goal of a Structural Integration practitioner is to create a balanced, vertical and integrated body while considering the supportive benefits of the gravitational field. Structural Integration is a form of work that assists the human body in moving to a place of better balance, better organization, and greater overall freedom and wholeness.

Structural Integration is a scientifically validated process of restructuring the body through movement, touch, and education.  The field of gravity is an unseen force that is consistently interacting with the human body -- Structural Integration aims to re-educate the human body so that it lives and moves in harmony within the field of gravity rather than being at war with gravity.

If you can imagine how it feels to have a fluid, light, balanced body, free of pain, stiffness, chronic stress, at ease with itself and the earth's gravitational field, then you will understand the goals of Structural Integration.
